Standard Bank Student Loans are there for you to further your education without you having to worry about the financial burden. Standard Bank will help you finance your studies with their affordable student loan, and if you are a full-time student, you will also get a Standard Bank transaction account that suits your needs. You can use the loan to pay for your tuition fees and accommodation. Standard Bank Student Loans are only granted for a year, and each year you need to reapply. The institution or course needs to be accredited by one of the following bodies: SAQA, SETA, Umalusi or the Department of Higher Education.
For full-time students, you are only required to start repaying your loan on completion of your studies although, during your studies, you will need to pay the monthly interest and service fees. You will be granted a grace period for capital repayments after you have finished your studies and have not found employment.
Part-time students will need to repay their loans while studying, and monthly payments must be made by debit order. You will be required to repay your loan immediately if you do not complete your studies. Once your loan is in repayment, the monthly repayments will not change. If you are a part-time student, the monthly repayment will change whenever you increase the limit on your loan while studying.
